If you think that you mights need stitches, you should go to the doctor/urgent care as soon as you possibly can. Some signs that you may need stitches or medical attention include things such as :
- blood is spurting out of the wound
- you feel like you may be loosing a significant amount of blood , and maybe you feel lightheaded .
- you can see the white colored fat underneath the wound
- the wound is so deep that you are unable to close it
- it looks like it is infected, and there is pus, you have a fever, or it looks very red around the site of self harm
