Yes I think the right therapist can help you with a trauma. Trauma tends to be something that we need to process in our minds to understand it. The right therapist will be able to help you do this in a safe environment and help you to find coping techniques for when the trauma still effects you.

Yes. Therapists are trained to deal with distress from traumatic events. The type of therapist you see can vary, but all of them can help you. The key is seeking someone who specializes in dealing with trauma, and finding one with experience. Generally, a 'clinical psychologist' will have a PhD and more in-depth training, and deals with more serious and deep seated issues, and a counselor (The actual title and licensure can vary from state to state) generally has a masters degree but is still very much capable of treating you. It really depends on how complex and deep seated the issue is.

Therapists are trained and educated with ways to help you deal with trauma, and they often have experience or have helped many others deal with theirs. never discount using your therapists own experiences to help you.

Definitely! A therapist is trained specifically to help you walk through your trauma in a safe environment while providing you support throughout the entire process.

Therapists are there to help you with a variety of problems, trauma being one of them. They are there to listen, not to judge

Therapy helped me a lot when I went to deal with my sexual abuse. It is different for everyone. My tip would be that if you want to go, then go. If you don't want to go then it may not be helpful.
