Sit up straight or lay down if possible. Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose. You should feel your belly rise slightly (not just your chest--those are shallow breaths). Hold for a few seconds. Slowly release your breathe through your mouth. Repeat a few times until you feel yourself relaxing.

Take deep breaths and control the pace. When you control the pace it makes it a lot easier to breath.

Stop whatever you're doing. Stand up, sit down, lie down, whatever makes you comfortable wherever you are. Tune out the sounds around you and just breathe. Take a deep breath in and let it out slowly. Over and over, in and out, in and out, until you've caught your breath.

The best way is to stop what your doing. Then so somewhere where you feel peaceful and relaxed (it can be a closet, or your car, or a bathroom. You can even go outside) and take some deep breaths. Breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 6, and out for 7 seconds. :)

It all depends on why you cannot catch your breath. Is it due to an emotional issue or a health issue? Facing those questions first can lead you to help such as seeking a healthcare professional to guide you further.

When you are stressed, or dealing with anxiety, it is quite common to have the feeling of not being able to catch your breath. Some people find that taking a step back from whatever is stressing them out can help, other people find that getting outside can help. To be perfectly honest, most people have their own thing that works for them, and that may take trial and error and time to figure out. However saying that, imagery can be very helpful. Imagery is when you imagine you are in a calm and beautiful place and try and focus on it. I hope these things work for you, good luck!

Take a few minutes out of everyday routine and just meditate. I am an engineer and it's always hectic around me but 2-3 minutes a day where I close my eyes and focus on myself and constructively repair the broken thoughts really help me sort my day out and catch my breath.

Hey, I find taking a break in a quiet place preferably alone. I will close my eyes and focus on my breathing. I prefer to have music on quietly why doing this but that’s my personal method. You can try with or without music. I try do this for 5 minutes and I find this helps me focus and relax my breathing if I’m having a day with high anxiety this will also help relax my anxiety and regain my thoughts. I also find doing this with background noises such as “forest noises†or “ocean noises†helps. Hope this helps. :)
