Technically, most symptoms of panic attacks, even though they feel so severe and terrible, most of them are non-threatening. I know a lot of people feel like they have to go to the hospital cause they feel so bad, but i've had panic attacks regularly for many years and haven't ever gone. I know that 99% of the time it's panic, and i just have to ride it out no matter how horrible it is. You aren't in physical real danger. I know it's easier said than done. Be well

Panic attacks do have physical symptoms that like any other can progress to a dangerous level. Blood pressure can rise, so can the pulse, accelerated breathing, all of which need attention. A person's medical history also determines how quickly a panic attack can turn into a medical emergency. If you feel like you could die or even feel like you are having a medical emergency just like any other cause of emergency call 9-1-1 or go to your emergency room where they can properly evaluate your situation.

The actual symptoms of a panic attack in themselves are not dangerous. One's reaction to the situation could put one in harms way depending on the scenario. The other thing to be mindful of is that a panic/anxiety attack can have similar symptoms to a heart attack. Please be sure to follow up with a medical doctor if you have never had symptoms like that previously.
