It is easy for emotions to take over situations because they are so powerful. It is easier to let your body get wrapped up in emotion than to think through a situation logically and ultimately handle it better. Calming yourself with deep breathing or physical exercise can help you step back from a situation and look at it more logically.

Humanity runs on emotions, for better or worse. Some are destructive, some helpful, some unexplained. There's nothing wrong with expression of emotion in a situation but becoming a slave to emotion will always lead you down a path you don't want to go.

If I find that I am emotional pretty often, then I am likely feeling pretty down. If I'm feeling more depressed (down) than usual, I'm usually feeling pretty vulnerable. When that happens, I'm often more susceptible to letting my emotional mind overtake my rational mind.

Emotions take over when we stop considering the situation logically and rationally...if we see the situation from point of view of a third person ...then we may realize that whats wrong and what's right irrespective of all the feelings and emotions. Or another way could be to calm down our mind for a while and then think, so that our decision are not biased because of our emotions.

Angst and emotion take over the logical part of your brain. It's not anything you can control, and you shouldn't be ashamed of it. What you need to do is take that emotion, and learn from it, become the you that you want to become.
