Being an outsider enables one to get a unique perspective because the outsider has not yet picked a side. This enables them to be neutral and they can see some things that the insider may not be able to see. For instance, they may see the good sides of the villain. An insider may hate the villain and he or she may not want to see them as good. In addition to that, an outsider can easily figure out an abuse or ill treatment in a case where the insider is so much in love with the abuser or mistreater.

Whether you're talking about a personal relationship, a work environment, a cultural practice, really any problem or situation, the outsider by virtue of not being involved can often see more clearly. Sometimes, when you're on the inside, it's easy to become blinded because you're used to certain behaviors. For example, you might be used to getting shouted at by your manager and don't even see how that can be wrong. Outsiders also bring their own experience into the problem you're having, which can shed new light on the situation. You may notice things that those who aren't outsiders may not notice, in regard to cliques and how people interact with each other. You may also be more open minded because you aren't being persuaded by a certain social group or people that you are constantly in contact with. This is just my personal opinion, its not necessarily based off of fact but more so observations that I have made and based on conversations I have had from people who are outsiders. I overall think there is less of a need to feel like you need to conform as an outsider, unless you are no longer happy with being an outsider so you alter things about yourself to "fit in".

Being an outsider give one a unique perspective because you're curious to know what the other person is going through, being more educated in their challenges and shows you how to help them to the best you can.

Everyone's perspective is unique. But seeing a situation from the outside gives a more objective and full perspective.
