Isolation is being cut off from anyone physically. Loneliness is being cut off from people while still living amongst them or the feeling that you are cut off from other people.

Isolation is for a period of time. Meaning you isolate yourself in order to grief or whatever may be the reason and then you search back for people etc. Loneliness is more a status that you start being confortable in it. Meaning you don't want to frecuent with people anymore, you lose the taste of being surrounded with them etc.

As far as my opinion, Isolation is physical. Loneliness is a state of mind/distress. For example, a person can feel loneliness is a crowded room.

isolation is removing yourself away from people, because you want it that way. Loneliness is not wanting to be away from people but these people probably have no one around to have human interaction and so they feel alone.

Isolation is when people ignore you and their actions make it impossible for you to be more involved in something. Loneliness is the feeling of not having anyone around. This could be that you actually don't have anyone around but in some cases you may have people around you but still feel alone. This could be as they don't know your struggles or what you are going through.

Isolation is where you purposefully put yourself in a situation where you aren't around people and can't have contact with them. For me, this involves going to my room or taking a shower, and knowing that I don't feel well to begin with. By isolating myself I increase my sadness and feel even more lonely, but it's something that I can control. I can walk out of that room and go talk to my mom, but I decide against it. Loneliness is a bit different for me. Sometimes I can be in the middle of a large group at school and feel incredibly alone. It's like I'm invisible and the world is pushing along outside of my body. Loneliness isn't always something I can control. I can put myself around people and talk to them and still feel insecure and alone. This is just my take on the difference between the two. I hope it helps!

Isolation can have both positive and negative connotations. We might isolate for good reasons like when we are sick. Loneliness does not mean you are isolated. You can be connected and lonely. Loneliness is more about not have quality connections to people.
