You should be able to tell if your mother-in-law likes you just the same as knowing how anyone likes you. From my experience, I can tell if someone likes me when they treat me with kindness and respect.

after you have told the mother in law about your relationship how did she react? if she behaves in a manner that you feel unwelcome and being pushed away by her then you know that she does not like you but if she welcomes you with a warm heart and treat you like her own then that simply she love you as her son or daughter in law and would love that you two will get married.

If your mother in law like you, she will go out of her way to help you when you are in need, while being supportive and friendly, rather than cold and distant. From my experience, if a mother in law likes you, she lets it be known to other family members, rather than saying insulting things about you, which will eventually make its way back to your, or your significant other's, ears.
