Normal is relative for portion sizes. What is 'normal' to one person isn't to another. But that said, a good general guideline is to follow the food pyramid / dietary guidelines and serving sizes on packages. At least, trying to stay in that ballpark of portion sizes helps one approximate serving size and caloric intake. However, labels will have those based on a 2000 calorie/day base diet, which depending on your specific needs (which a medical professional such as a dietician and/or doctor) may be greater or less. But the nutrition facts/labels are a general baseline for the 'average' population.

I would definitely say that is normal. Plus, it varies from individual to individual. I mean, there is a set standard in regards to how much you should be eating per day (fats/carbs/protein), but it can also vary depending on whether or not you workout and how much or how extensively! Trust me, I was way off the bat when I used to eat. Plus, I just enjoyed food too much, lol! :)

I don't think there's a normal portion size for people. Everyone varies. There's definitely a recommended serving size but I'd guess that actually very few 'normal' people in our day and age eat those portions.

It is common not to know what portions people our size and height usually eat. There are a lot of really great tools out there to help though. There are doctors and nutritionists. There are also self help books in bookstores where you can go and have a coffee, kick back and read. Google is a good tool as well.

Yes it can or cannot be because a person who is fit and healthy is surely a person who knows the portion whereas a person who is obese should obviously come to know about what portion of food he should be eating because that could affect him menatally and physically....

Many people are not aware of the correct portion sizes for food, but everyone should. Read up on MyPlate.org and educate yourself on what an appropriate meal looks like.

It's understandable but if you want to educate yourself, you can always check out the food pyramid and also see references of how much 1 portion is. E.g meat is a palm sized portion , carbs are a baseball sized portion . It's normal to not know.. perhaps because you always stick to eating intuitively.
