Depression comes and goes for most everyone, but if you seek treatment, it is a certainty that it will become more manageable, and yes, may even disappear. Even the happiest and most successful of people often deal with some level of depression. The more you accept it as something normal, but something also to be kept in check (much like fluctuating weight), the faster you can come out on the other end of it. Talk to a friend, family member, or professional! The first step is to recognize that you have it. The second is to ask for help.

The amount of time depression lasts varies between different individuals. Some only suffer from depression for short periods of time while others are unfortunate enough to have to deal with it throughout their life time. The key is to remain in treatment for as long as necessary and comply with all doctor instructions to ensure the best recovery.

In my experience I'm unsure if I'll ever be fully rid of my depression, I've taken antidepresseants on and off for 12 years and I wondered if I'd ever be able to stop taking them, or feel 'normal'. The turning point for me was going to therapy with a psychologist once a week, I've been going now for 3 years and whilst it's been slower progress than I had hoped, I've successsgully weaned off my meds under medical supervision and have been off them for longer than ever with no current need to go back to them. I feel better mentally than I ever have and although I still would say I have depression, it isn't impacting my life the same as it used to. I believe & my hope is that one day I will be rid of my depression for good. It could come back if things go crazy in my life, but that may be more of a situational depression rather than an ongoing deep seeded depression. I hope that helps In Some way. My biggest fake home is that meds alone can help manage things, but it's therapy that helps get passed depression.

Depression comes and goes, that much I know. Of course there will be times when you feel low, and times when you feel happy - you just have to focus on the happy. Being sad is unavoidable but there are ways of making it more bearable, like always having someone around to talk to, comfort food and all that. Depression never lasts forever, and people have different ways of dealing with it, but though it may feel like it will never end, it does. I can promise you that, from my own experience. :)

Not if you say "Enough" and really mean it, and ask yourself why you're depressed and put an end to the reasons.

That all depends on you. If you don't like where you are, who you are with, who you are or what you do, change it. Make your life the way you want it. After all, you know you best.
