Night is when everything tends to slow down. This is the time where our brains have time to process all that we've taken on during the day. When not much has happened in the day, our brains sometimes start trying to process things from the past. This isn't ideal, but it's sometimes necessary. When we go backwards, it may often lead us to think about our core memories, and thus, old wounds, Old wounds being brought to memory can cause depression to feel more fresh, and increase the feelings of depression. (By the way, there is a really good movie that came out recently that touches on the subject of core memories and how they are formed. It's meant for children, but it's great for anybody who has trouble managing their emotions. The movie is called Inside Out. You might want to check it out. )

Sometimes when you're most alone you let your thoughts get to you so you end up feeling depressed in cases such as these I believe you should try to get yourself to sleep sooner perhaps even speak to a doctor if it gets worse but try to take your mind off the negatives in life and focus on the positives you'll find that you don't feel so depressed

I think I feel depressed more at night because I have much more time to sit and think about all of my problems, everything that is bothering me. Plus right now we are experiencing the Fall time change and a weather change as well and I know this can affect my depression.

Maybe because you're alone and it's dark. And depression can keep you up at night when you should be sleeping- it messes with your sleep schedule.

At the nighttime we often find ourselves alone with our thoughts. Our minds continue to wounder while our bodies slowly shut down. The scariest part of the night is how we are stuck with our selves. No distracting or outside sounds. You can often feel depressed at night because that is when the sun is not out, and there is no light shinning thew the window. Fortunately the sun will come up. You are not alone and although the your bedsheets are comfortable and safe it's best to get out of bed and make the best of each day.

Because of darkness, and solitude, and coldness, and overthinking (this one occur mostly at nights).

Night is the time when we feel lonely and lost. Thinking about whatever bad we achieved through out the day and that makes our thoughts more vulnerable to depression and anxiety.

A lot of times we are so busy during the day that we just don't have time to process how we're feeling. At night, our brains seem to slow down and really think about how we are - there are less distractions at night. Oftentimes we are alone at night, which can only add to negative feelings. Some good coping skills for this would be to go to bed at the same time as other people, find activities to distract you if you are feeling depressed, or talk with someone about your feelings if you're feeling depressed.

At night, it is often quiet, particularly after everyone has gone to sleep. This leads to a feeling of loneliness, as if there is no one to talk to. It is also a time that many people feel like they can express how they really feel without anyone noticing.
