What should I do, if I feel like I don't care about anything (even my family and friends)?

I believe that when you feel like you don't care about anything, the truth is that you are actually caring about a lot and your empathy is overloaded. This is the time to stop and listen to your inner voice (some might call this your inner child or your inner mentor).. Just like the flight attendant who tells you, during the safety review, to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others, if you don't take care of yourself then you cannot adequately take care of others. When you find yourself feeling like you don't care, give yourself a bit of space and ask your inner voice what is really going on. What does it need you to be caring about? What is it caring about? Are you lonely, hungry, tired, angry? Let your inner voice guide you to care for yourself, to nurture yourself. What does your inner voice need to feel better? Whether you answer these questions silently to yourself or journal about them or call a friend or an active listener at 7cupsoftea to talk out, taking time to care for yourself will help boost your energy and, as a result, your empathy.

I know this feeling all too well, but the one important thing to remember is that this feeling will not last forever. It may feel like it's consuming you but not having feelings for anything is a classic symptom of depression, it's also important to remember that depression doesn't last forever too. Just take one day at a time and take something small to care about, whether that's reading a chapter of a book or making a meal- these things seem small and easy to people not suffering with this feeling but for those that are they are easy steps to keep your mind occupied and busy; this in time will help and be a stepping stone to finding other things to do and care about

Try taking a day for yourself to prioritize things in your life and think about what is important to you and why :)

Give it time. I've felt this on multiple occasions and you just gotta give it time and see if you still feel the same. If you do, maybe you should try and find people who do interest you. People change, they grow apart, it happens always. But before you cut anyone out of your life, make sure that your feelings are gonna stick and not change in a couple of months or whatever.

Talk to someone about it. Try to think about when this happened and why you might feel this way. Reach out to a professional (if possible). It could be because you've suppressed your emotions for so long and it's a result of depression.

You should try to calm down and think. Maybe you are just very upset and need time to cool off. In reality you care about a lot of things.

Sometimes we get to a point when we feel like we do not care about family and friends. Its ok to feel that and recognise that it is not really us or a part of us. Our true human spirit cares about all living creatures. What you are feeling is temporary and its important to reassess your life and focus on loving and caring about yourself first

Recognizing the feeling that you do not care about anything is an important thing. Simply recognizing the feeling as it arises can assist in attempting to see if feeling is mood dependent - e.g. while feeling down does the feeling of not caring about anything feel greater than while you may be in a slightly more positive mood?

I didn't at a time too. I do now. Humans need a reason to live and our emotions come from it. You just need to search for it. If everything was easy in life it wouldn't be life, would it?
