First and foremost is to acknowledge these feelings and to be absolutely certian it IS depression. Secondly, after a consolation session advise for proffessional assistance. Because medication may have to be involved, continuous assessments etc.

Firstly, try not to be scared. It's a thing and it happens almost to anybody. You might not be able to get out of bed, you might not be able to complete your tasks too. But it's OK. Stressing out is not the best side-dish with depression.
Be open about your problem, so people around you can understand and help.
When I was severely depressed, a new friends circle and a whole new environment with different things to do and places to go worked out great for me.
Stay focused on the positive of everything. Hooray for the glass half full!

first thing, i would say its aknowledging that depression is not a mood or a state of mind, but a medical condition that can turn out to be pretty serious without the correct treatment. because this is the case, it wont either go away without hard work and care, a person can be happy or sad throughout a day but you cant just 'cheer up' out of your depression. my best advice would be, seek for professional help, and if you dont know where to start, go to someone of your trust so they can help you find the best option for your treatment, is not wrong nor shameful to be depressed, so dont be afraid

First, you must tell yourself that you will survive through this. Repeat it to yourself constantly. Please, do not forget to do so. Then- What makes you smile? What makes you feel something? Whatever it is, pursue and do it. Remember that you deserve to be happy, to be smiling. And lastly, take care of your health and your other responsibilities. Once you start to emerge from the depression, you will want to step into a good situation. And so- finish that math homework, put all your effort into writing that paper, go on that run.
If the words of a stranger mean anything- It'll be alright, I promise.

Getting outside should be your first step to overcoming your depression, dont stay inside and be sad all along, go for a walk, get some fresh air and feel the sun on your skin.

Depression is a well overrated word... would you like to define it? would you like to write down your own definition? Would you like to see if the solution is on the words you just wrote?

Tell someone close to you first. Eventually you'll need to go and receive counseling. It gets hard doing it all alone.

Depression is tricky. It's different for every single person. When I struggled with depression, it was like I felt sad all the time... it was more like the absence of any feeling at all. When you're depressed, you don't want to focus on anything else but how dead inside you are. The best thing you can do, is to decide you want to change. Then you're already halfway towards recovery.
