Is it normal for depression to come back? I felt like I worked through it years ago but now it's back.

It is a very normal thing. It is called a relapse. This is usually caused by a trigger and only last for a short amount of time just try to remember that you beat it once and you can do it again :)

Yes - depression is a mental illness, and for some people, it will never go away. Sometimes small things can trigger depression - like missing the bus, or dropping a book on the floor. But that's okay, though. It's okay to seek help even though you haven't needed it for a while. If you have battled it before, you can always battle it again

Absolutely. Depression can be caused by traumatic incidents and those never go away. We get stronger, we learn to cope, to process, to gain perspective but they never go away. And all it takes is a trigger, and sometimes it can be a trigger you don't even know. For example, let's say that during your darkest days you were in college, and sometimes while there, while depressed, you were around someone that wore a perfume that can be associated with that bad time in your life. Sure enough, years later, you smell that smell and your mind associates it with your trauma. Next thing you know, you are feeling pain, depressed, sad, and you have no clue why. Or someone maybe says something that is a trigger from years gone by. WIth me, it's negative statements that resemble what my parents said when I was young. It doesn't even need to be directed towards me. I catch it quickly nowadays 99% of the time but sometimes, it just happens. If left unchecked, it can come back full force.

It is entirely normal for depression to come and go. It is considered an illness, so even if you fight it and feel like it's gone, it's still there. Try not to shame yourself because it isn't anything you did or didn't do.

Sometimes depression has no apparent cause and can happen at any moment in our lives. People experience depression in different ways depending on the type of depression and individual differences. Some deal with it only once, in patches, or throughout most of their life.

Yes. It is normal. (In my opinion) most people end up becoming depressed again. Why? I'm not really sure. It just happens.

It is natural for it to come back, No matter how cheesy it sounds you just have to stay happy and keep being strong.
