I would describe depression as an urchin stuck to my snorkelers fin, trying to shake it odd but it won't go away. It is the darkness that cannot be lit by your own light, and you need many candles to help you find your way out of it. It is sunglasses on a sunny day, and coldness in the sun.

It's almost like a vampire sucking your energy away. It steals your strength physically, emotionally and mentally. It drains you of everything and even though you want to do things, the desire just isn't strong enough.

Describing depression is not an easy job. But in my experience depression feels like drowning or being in a tiny room, with no options but to stay there and panicking while trying to find a way out. Walking through life feeling empty and repeated. Everyday is a new struggle and awaiting time to go to bed because sleeping is the way to escape

Depression isn't something that comes and goes. It isn't something you label yourself as when you're sad. Depression is so much more than sadness, granted sadness is a massive part of depression but there is so much more to it. The feeling of worthlessness, loneliness within a circle of friends, isolating oneself, the constant fear of something. Depression isn't just sadness, it's something that can overtake your life.

I would describe depression as no motivation at all, as being tired all the time and having no energy to do something, not even an activity that you like. Depression is feeling empty, is feeling lost, is feeling overwhelmed sometimes. Depression is like a ghost, or a little you that doesn't leave your side.

An endless journey on a dark road with no pit stops, constant rain, and no food or shelter. You feel empty, close to death, but you cannot die and feel like a walking corpse. You're always crying, silently begging for someone to help you and save you - but no one can...
