it's a self defense mechanism against obstacles in our lives and certain environmental factors that people faced in the past in their evolutionary process. people used to work hard during the spring and summer and make themselves ready for winter, when their metabolisms would slow down and their nerves worked slower. some people have this defensive reflex more than others as with everything else.

We don't get to depression as in general, we have it every day, all the time, at every moment, it's a part of us! And based on how we see things, cope with them, and surrounding conditions, it becomes a depression for someone but for someone else it's just a normal everyday thing! :)

There's never really an answer to how us humans get depression. Sometimes for people there is something that sparks it, and other times we just start feeling depressed. You don't need an answer, because it will just drive you crazy. Think back to when you first started feeling this way. Try to think if something specific did happen to spark this feeling. If you cannot think of anything, that's okay. You don't need an answer to how you got this feeling. The best thing you can do for now is do things that bring you peace and happiness.

There are usually tons of different factors that cause depression. Each and every single person is different really. Many people can speculate on what "made" them get depression but it almost never can be summarized in one way. Usually, figuring out what caused your depression can help you overcome it. From my personal experiences, once you feel that you know what it is, it can truly help you better yourself. It can be difficult to figure out what made you feel that way but, with time and dedication, depression can be overcome and it starts with you !
