Call local Retirement homes and ask about Volunteer options. If they dont have any- leave your name and number and ask them if they want help setting up future events or anything else to call you. Most allow visitors who are respectful so just be polite and call first so you know their policies before you walk in the door!

Find a nursing home or assisted living facility that needs volunteers. Make it clear upfront that you want a role where you can work with the residents and spend time with them face-to-face. Be committed, sincere, and kind!

One way would be to ask to volunteer at care homes. They are often grateful for help as staff may not always be able to spend quality time with residents as much as they would like. Talking and activities are a big part in improving quality of life for the elderly and you don't need any qualifications or experience for that. The only thing you will likely be asked to do is a criminal record check.

Volunteering is the one of the best thing that one can experience once in the lifetime. One can volunteer to help the aging seniors and talk with them through the organization like mission humanitaire (http://www.mission-humanitaire-afrique.org), where you can also gain rich experience in humanity.

First of all, thank you for having a kind heart to help others! In my life experience, I started with my local nursing homes to see about volunteer programs. I went through their application process and read about things that elderly people face so that I could better relate to things they might be sad about or concerned about. Once I began to volunteer, I would take notice of pictures on their walls or in frames and ask about them. A lot of times they would have pictures of themselves when they were much much younger and they would love to talk about it. It would open up great conversations about wonderful things they experienced in their life. I still remember a lot of them and some of them were my personal heroes. It was very rewarding. I wish you the very best in your journey to volunteer and I hope that it brings you much joy as it did for me.

For anyone seeking out volunteer opportunities, I suggest checking out the Love For the Elderly website at https://lovefortheelderly.org/! They have a great letter writing campaign, which you can do from your own home. Also, don’t be afraid to contact the senior homes around your area. Most places are always looking for volunteers. You can even suggest an activity and lead it! If you feel like this is a big leap, you can start just by joining in the activities that they already have planned. Most places have a schedule and are open to having new people join in (of course check to make sure this is okay first)! I personally have loved going to my local senior homes are interacting with everyone! Talking to the elderly is a great experience and volunteer opportunity, as they are often an under appreciated and under valued part of society.
