First of all, wanting to distract yourself from negative thoughts in a healthy way is a great sign that you are aware and that is definitely one of the most important parts. Finding healthy ways to cope can be a challenge but if you look hard enough, you might find that every day stuff that you do keeps you from having bad thoughts. For example, playing a *relaxing* video game like Minecraft (not something high adrenaline like COD or CSGo) might help, or listening to music, doing yoga or general exercises, playing with any pets, talking to siblings or friends, doing chores around your house might even help. These are just some examples, but you have to keep in mind of what interests you. What might work for other people, might not work for you, and that's okay, just find something that fits your scenario.

Well, you can always try writing a diary to get your feelings down onto paper and coming onto 7cups and connecting to a listener is a good idea, or popping into teen support..we're always here to listen and offer you a helping hand :)

What always helps me getting rid of negative thoughts is getting active. Whenever I feel like my negative thoughts are going to crush me I go outside for a walk. Meeting with people you like can also be helpful. You should however avoid talking to them about your negative thoughts...at least you shouldn't constantly talk about it with them if you are looking for distraction. Try to do something fun with them. I also find distraction by reaing a good book. It keeps my mind occupied.

Read a good book or get into social media. That's how i distract my mind from "not helpful" thoughts. I hope this could help you.

When negative thinking comes to my mind and it depresses me, I love to hear music , cooking foods, making new things, share my feelings to my close friend.

I like to think that the best way to distract yourself from negativity is it focus on the little things in life! ~ the colour of the leaves, the ripples in water, the clouds moving in the sky.. When you think about how huge and beautiful the world is in comparison to us, you realise there is no reason to dwell on such tiny problems!

Picking up new hobbies is a positive way to get away from negative thoughts, also talking to those who are close to you (if you feel this is an option) is another way to get things out. Venting is very important in my opinion.

From my personal experience I can say that writing them down does help a lot. It's similar to venting your thoughts out, except here they are on paper but I've also met people who don't find this helpful. So, if you don't want to try this, you can maintain a list of things you are grateful for, things that make you happy and smile, and re read that list (and maybe add more items to it) whenever you want to distract yourself from your negative thoughts. Try engaging in activities (the best way ) that make you happy, like listening to music, drawing, running, baking...anything that works for you. I hope this helps.

As a student,i would want to engage myself in studies. Apart from that, when im stressed i may play music which gives me a great relief .it gives the brain a good excersise but never tiresome! Aesthetic side of one can be ameliorated by doing so and he/she will be kept away from any negative feeling!
