It's a good idea, yes. The longer you go without telling someone the harder it becomes to finally admit it. It's very difficult to tell someone you have depression, but it's probably the most important thing you'll ever do.

Depends on the people. You should definitely tell at least someone, but you don't necessarily have to tell everyone. I would recommend telling your parents and/or someone else that you trust, but you don't need to feel like you have to tell all your friends or anyone else unless you want too.

Sometimes it feels like we are hiding a part of ourselves when we keep our depression from others. However, we must ask ourselves if depression is how we want to be defined. In my experience it has made sense to tell the people I have become close to that I have depression, but I wait to share until trust is mutually established.

Telling people that you are depressed is not an obligation. The only people that need to know anything about yourself is the people you choose to tell. If you don't want someone to know, they don't have to!

If you're sure about it being more or less persistent and problematic, you should. In most cases that's really helpful. Oh, and don't tell it to anyone and everyone but to people close to you, at least for the first part.

No not at all. You can tell your school if you want to get disability assistance, but other than that no one has to know at all.

You don't need to tell anyone anything you don't feel comfortable telling them! Do what is true to you. No one is entitled to your personal health information. But if you feel like you need to tell someone, then you shouldn't feel ashamed to. Depression is an illness, and one many people have.

You should. Depression is a difficult state of mind. It will eat you up and give you a lot of troubles and won't easily stop. You can't fight it alone, even if you try you can easily lose..... It's better to have someone to help you and someone who will understand you.

I really think it is up to you. If your depression is affecting your relationship with said people, and you are comfortable enough to open up to them about your issues, it might be a very good, healthy thing to do.
