Honestly if they want to break up with you...let them. Reason for that is you shouldn't have to convince someone to stay with you. If they want to leave let them if you are what they really want they will return. If not, just know they were a lesson for you and that that's one more person closer to someone you are meant to be with. (:

Often in these situations you may not be able to change his or her mind. However, you can start an open dialogue. Communication is key. Ask open ended questions as to why or what led him or her to that decision. If it's something you both can work on together--then tackle it. A relationship requires teamwork--both players need to want it for it to work.

Your boyfriend does not want to be in a relationship with you anymore? I am sorry to hear that. Was there a chain of events that occurred or was it something that you just came across?

You should try and see what the problem is and try solving it or you can make them feel loved again by doing some things for them such as expressing your feelings or giving a gift.

My best advice to you in a situation like this is to be absolutely honest.
Have a talk with him/her about why you want to stay together and how you think you two should work things out. Sometimes just having a 'back-to-square-one' conversation will make a world of a difference.

Changing their mind wouldn't help. What you can do instead, is to reflect what is the root of the issue, and rectify it instead. Maybe it is not to salvage this relationship, but it may help with the future one

Tell them you love them and don't want to break up but give them some space and time to make up their mind.

You can surely try to show them your point of view, but in the end its their decision. If they are truly urs, they ll come back. If not, they were never yours to begin with.

Find out what's bugging them. If they've indicated a desire to break up with you but haven't already done it, that signifies that they still see hope in the relationship. If you can't work through it together, give them some time away from you. Let them miss you. Absence quite often can make the heart grow fonder.
