There might be things you haven’t been able to let go that have to do with your ex. Our minds can have trouble letting go of certain things, even if a long period of time has passed, anything can trigger us to remember and think about certain people from our past, especially if certain feelings are involved, whether they’re positive or negative emotions. You could examine your feelings more closely and try to identify the reasons for thinking about your ex – maybe there’s unfinished business between the two of you that was never addressed? It can be hard to move forward from our past mentally, even if we have a new life, but it doesn’t mean there’s anything 'wrong' with you.

1. He might have had an effect on you, a big effect that your current boyfriend lacks. For example he was a good listener and your current boyfriend does not listen.
2. Your current boyfriend may not be giving you as much attention as your ex did. For example calling you or spending time with you.
3. Maybe your current boyfriend is not doing that one thing that your ex boyfriend did. For example buying you gifts.
4. Perhaps you started dating your current boyfriend before it was completely over or before fully getting over your ex boyfriend. You jumped from one relationship to another before mourning your previous one.
5. You may still live in places, have friends or things that remind you of your ex. For example live in a house that you shared with your ex.
