There are several reasons to why a person develops anxiety disorders. Anxiety itself isn't a bad thing as it's a defense mechanism of the body. However, it can go out of hand and would result to feeling nervous, jittery, or panicky even in events that don't require the said emotions.

Anxiety disorders can be caused by many things. For example something happening in the future you could be worrying about, or something going on in the present.

I personally believe that there are two major causes for anxiety disorders, biologically you can have a predisposition to a dormant genes carrying the disorders so you are born with them present. The second part, when you experience a very traumatic experience it can trigger anxiety disorders. for example, i showed no signs of my mental health disorders until i was 19 -20 after a life of traumatic experiences my disorders came out swinging. my mother has various mental health disorders but they are not the same as mine. but one doctor told me i could have inherited a predisposition to having these disorders, another doctor told me it was my life that triggered my disorders.

Like a big part of mental disorders, scientists haven't figured out a specific cause yet. Add to that the fact that anxiety is multifactorial, and is more often than not inherited (which implies transmittable genetic component).

In my experience, it was a lack of coping skills. I did not know how to anticipate stress or certain perceived feelings. Once I learned how to cope in moments of anxiety, I was able to better control my disorder. You can too!!! :-)

Oh, I'm sorry, but this is no simple answer. Simple answer: anything. It can be caused from genetic/inheritance, environmental things like bullying, fighting, weather induced; or it stems from having Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, maybe an Eating Disorder, Depression, etc. It's a multitude of things. Sometimes it can even be your brain can be just over active causing excess worrying, and you have no clue why. It can be like that. It's usually very complicated.

A lot of things can contribute. Genetics and environment are a lot of what it boils down to. Scientists are still trying to figure a lot of that out.
