The way to live in the moment is by not letting the past define you and not worry so much about the future. Living in the moment involves just taking the present as it is and not letting little things stress you out.

Great question. I myself have been on the journey of learning how to live in the moment. First find your passion and then follow it, do more of the things that make you happy, schedule it into your day if you have to. Since we're on the topic of schedules, personally I can't go a day without some sort of to-do list or checklist so if you are anything like me than make schedules for yourself but don't plan too far ahead, just making a small to do list for the day is enough. Make sure you leave in room for time to relax and sudden event that come up. If these sudden events do come up, if there is nothing else important to do, go. Take every chance you get to get out of the house and spend time with family and friends. But make sure those family and friends actually make you happy and don't wear you down. There is happiness in every day life, you just have to look for it, it'll be there. Living in the moment can be hard because most of the time we are filled up with work or school, but to be honest I think it's a bit of an excuse you may not like school but that doesn't mean your entire life has to just as miserable. You have to stay positive and try your best to find the beautiful things in your every day and you'll be on your way to living in the moment.

Breath. No really. Breath... Try out the 7 cups mindfulness exercises as this teaches you how to live in the moment. The first point of focus should be on you and your body. Once you are mindful and aware of your own body and how it functions, then you can start rolling your senses outward to experience life in all of it's glory, in every moment of everyday.

Turn off the social media. Look around yourself. Explore the nature and notice the smallest things. Listen to good music and surround yourself with positive people who love the same things as you do. :)

Imagine that you only have 24 hours left to live, you know that tomorrow won't come and all you have is right now-- what's the first thing you're going to wish you had done? Do you still have time to do it? Is it something you can't imagine not getting to experience?
Now realize, that maybe you do only have 24 hours left. Remind yourself daily that you are not guaranteed tomorrow or even the rest of today, you don't know when your time is coming so if there is something you can't die without doing-- start planning.
Don't waste a single day thinking "I'll just do it tomorrow" because tomorrow may never come. Don't stress too hard about the long-term consequences, let your future self worry about it ;)
