Yes. Therapists are trained to deal with distress from traumatic events. The type of therapist you see can vary, but all of them can help you. The key is seeking someone who specializes in dealing with trauma, and finding one with experience. Generally, a 'clinical psychologist' will have a PhD and more in-depth training, and deals with more serious and deep seated issues, and a counselor (The actual title and licensure can vary from state to state) generally has a masters degree but is still very much capable of treating you. It really depends on how complex and deep seated the issue is.

Yes, trauma is something that needs to be processed in our mind, therapy can create a safe space for you to explore, see the situation with from different angles, and help you to get passed it. Of course it can take time to process traumas, since they've deeply penetrated our responses, but it is possible with time and practice. trauma therapies focus on soothing the nervous system, integrating traumatic memories, and supporting both mind and body healing. having a routine, get involved in community, calm yourself down and take care of yourself when exposed to a trigger, and seeking professional help can be ways to deal with our traumas.
Many can or should be able to, yes. But sometimes you can find ways to help yourself. If it's a trauma like a small fear, you may be able to go against it and help yourself. If it's something more big than a small fear for spiders and you do want help with it, you can see a therapist about it. But it's up to you and if you feel it's bothering you.
Therapists can be very helpful, but it's important to remember that they are only a help... a good therapist will ask questions and give you tools to deal with the trauma, but you have to put in the work. It is often very difficult and painful to work through trauma, but very much worth it in order to start healing.

Yes, a therapist can help you cope with your trauma. They can help you handle your emotions, sift through them, address them, and then resolve them. The hardest part is that first appointment. Getting there and feeling vulnerable to open up. Once you get past the trust part, it's smooth sailing to resolve. :)

of course, having someone professional to help you through the traumas you've been through is not only a really brave step to take, but it will also truly help :)
They can certainly help you through the process of getting better, you'd have their support and that should certainly make it less a burden as when a burden is shared, it becomes lighter on you hence why I think although they may not be able to magically solve your problems, it would certainly be some form of support for you and they might most definitely be able to help you deal with all that trauma.
A therapist can definitely help you deal with your trauma. They are highly trained and educated in the field and know the best ways to deal with the issues. Sometimes we want to do things ourselves, but there is nothing wrong with asking for help. :)
Yes and No. If you are ready to work with someone over a trauma then yes, But if you are not prepared to work through it then no. Therapy requires active participation not passive. Trauma is also an easy one to work with because you are dealing only with a memory not something real. A Trauma is in the past. Not in the now or in the future.. it has been and gone. Learning how to let go of the past is a valuable tool and will serve you well for the rest of your life.
Therapy helped me a lot when I went to deal with my sexual abuse. It is different for everyone. My tip would be that if you want to go, then go. If you don't want to go then it may not be helpful.
