Negative thinking is hard to avoid, but you can find positive things to counter them. Whenever you notice that the bad thoughts are clouding your mind, simply go back to the positive ones (Write them down if you want to). Positive thoughts to most scenarios can make your outlook on things much more positive in the end.

Any time you start to think something negative, try to shift your mind to something cute, like dogs, or someone you admire. Try and remember all the highest points of you’re life, times with your friends and when you were really happy

If you’ve lived with negative thinking for a very long time, you might think it’s unrealistic to just suddenly expect yourself to change your approach. In this situation, even affirmations and thought stopping techniques may seem to merely delay negative thinking for a later date. If this sounds familiar, you might want to spend a couple of weeks at least enforcing boundaries when it comes to negative thinking. The idea here is that you choose a fixed, limited period for allowing your mind to entertain negative thoughts, and that you commit to forcibly stopping or fighting them at every other time of the week. When you’re reassured that you will have time to consider these thoughts, you may find they seem less powerful and have less potential to dominate your mind. Further, many people find that they can’t even think of anything when they come to their scheduled time to allow contemplation of negative thoughts, and that this actually helps them to break their pattern.

I stop negativity in it's tracks by realizing that I have to make mistakes before I succeed, that I'm human and I can only act on my perception and my past, so everything is excusable.

One thing that always helps me is challenging your negative thoughts! Identify whether or not the thought is true, rational, positive and if it isn't, replace it with one that is!

By slowing down, having longer pauses between thoughts. I embrace negative thoughts as much as positive or neutral thoughts. Most of the times, when a thought gives me a -ve emotion, I question myself "Is this just a -ve assumption or Is it a warning against overly +ve or ignorant decision"

By feeling gratitude for the good things. Making yourself busy in something constructive whenever you feel that negative thoughts start to come. Deep breathing can also help.

You can try some thought stopping exercises where you replace the negative thought patterns with positive ones. Talk to a CBT specialist if you can afford it.

"Negative thinking" is all about what you deem it to be. For example, some people think that being given more hours at work is a good thing while others think it's a bad thing; all for different personal reasons of course. If you think about the reasons as to why you think your thoughts are negative, then perhaps you can work around them. You first have to decide whether or not your negative thoughts are rational or not. You may require help from a friend or family member if you feel as though you can't trust your own emotions on the matter. Remember, to regret the past is to fear the future.

Unfortunately you can't! (sorry!) Scientists recommend that we think around 60,000 – 80,000 thoughts a day, and yet were not really aware of how many thoughts are running through our brains. Often we are thinking and don't realise that we are - so much of it is just automatic. What we can do though is try and be aware of some of those negative thoughts that keep popping up. We can either challenge them (since most of them aren't true!) or we can acknowledge that they are just thoughts and we don't have to hook onto them or let us ruin our day.

Negative thinking is so easy to do and brings down your mood so fast. The easiest way to prevent negative thinking is to try and alter/change your outlook on life- if you look at it from a negative point, that's how your life is more than likely going to be. Start by taking a situation you've been thinking negatively about and think about the positives that were created or came out of it as well. If you can't think about any that's fine! Sometimes there are bad situation but remember it could always be worse, and for a lot of people in the world it is worse. If you try and see life from a more positive POV instead of always grey, a weight will be lifted off of your shoulders.

It's important to remember that negative thinking is natural. We all have our bad days, and that's okay! However, it becomes an issue when negative thoughts cloud our thinking, and should always be taken seriously. The truth is, it can't be prevented. Thoughts are unprovoked and pop into our heads without us even knowing sometimes- the more we try to prevent a thought, the more we think about it! In my experience, the best way to deal with negative thoughts is by taking a step back. Think, what is this thought, is there any reason and is there anything I can do to solve it? For example, say you saw something that upset you online, and it plays on your mind. What is the best course of action? In this instance, blocking the offensive post or person would mean this cannot pop up again, perhaps disabling the thoughts from occurring again. Of course, it isn't always as easy as pressing a button. If negative thinking is affecting you, it's always best to talk to someone. In my experience, family, friends or listeners on cups are amazing for helping! Every situation is different, and not everything can be solved by how I've suggested, however there is an answer. It's important you work with the people around you to solve the problem.

Release the emotion you feel is consuming you and thereby clouding your ability to think clearly and logically at the moment whether it is either anger, sadness, or both, through writing, drawing, scribbling, talking it out, shouting into a pillow or some other healthy and positive outlet for an emotionally cathartic release of emotions. If you are still consumed by negative thinking afterwards, create a cognitive-behavioral think, act and say chart to chart any type of negative thinking that may affect your daily normal functioning. Also, note the situation and ask yourself, "what can I do differently? How can I change my way of thinking?"

One way to prevent negative thinking is to think of the positive outcomes of your future, situations you're in, and your goals. For example, a big test is coming up and you may be stressed, anxious, and thinking about the "what-ifs." However, in this time, you can also think about the superior grade you're going to get and how your hard word is going to get paid off. Also, positive affirmations such as "I am loved", "I am cared for", "I am worthy", and "I am a warrior" can help bring the message to our brain that we can make a difference and bring ourselves to the best potential we have.

Try balance approach. For every negative thought that comes into your mind, think of something positive too. Even better, think about ten positive things for every one negative thought. It doesn't have to be huge stuffs. Small great things matter too. :) After a while, it'll become like a habit to you and I hope that you can counter that negative thinking. That's what I struggle with tol and this is the appraoch I am trying. Sometimes we can't help but getting negative thinking. But I believe we can balance it with more positive thoughts. Other important thing would be to evaluate your situation and surrounding. What gives you such negative thinking ? Gotta solve the problem from the root first.

I prevent negative thinking by saying aloud the complete opposite. You have to have a positive attitude in order to have a positive mind set. Instead of doubting yourself lift yourself up. You have to learn self confidence in order to help build others up. You can't love, and respect others if you don't love, and respect others. You have to learn self respect that's the key to channel your inner positive side. Everyone has one. No matter who you are you are. You are loved, and wanted just as much as the next person. You are important just like everyone else.

Think about the things that can make you happy. Make a list of those things. I know it's not very easy, but please try. Try to read that list everyday, post it on the wall of your room or anywhere you want. Sometimes, you may get tired of the list because you read it everyday, but try to hold on to hope and try to take it step by step. It doesn't matter if you're doing a slow pace or not... Just keep going. Nobody's gonna tell you it's taking you slow. What matters is that you keep going.

This is the toughest for me and trying to learn how to reduce and eventually get rid of it. Good health, good network, good food and clean and healthy place to leave has big impact. They do offer comfort, however, they keep us engaged either in maintaining them or enjoing them. Next thing is the meditation and mindfulness. These two are helping me living in present and reducing fortune telling and imagination which most likely never happens. Yet another one is, if the first two are covered then becoming productive and checking self often helps feeling of accomplishments. Even a small task done makes me feel accomplish and temprorily gives relief from negative thinking. There are any, one has to identify which one will work and ready to improve upong negative thoughts. Thoughs are imagination on real!

I'm not sure if we can ever completely prevent negative thinking. But there are skills we can learn to help us when the negative thoughts do come around. Sometimes we may be able to stop the thoughts before they snowball, or we can lessen their effects if they do make their way in. It takes a lot of practice to retrain our automatic thought processes. Breathing exercises, meditation, and grounding skills are all great tools to try. There are many resources like articles and videos for learning more about these. 7 Cups also offers many self-help guides with this info. Try these and find what works best for you!

By thinking all the good things I have. Such as family. They're your great supporters. And all your friends, somebody who stands by you. I think all about the blessings from God. If I had bad times, yes, I'll be really piss off but when my mood is coming back to normal, I'll try to think that happened for a reason. Maybe I have to learn something. I will find the answer at the right time. And I'm trying to do the best I can to people around me. That way, I hope my life becomes harmony and finally gain the peace of mind.

I recommend you to write in a notebook or somewhere easy to see some motivate quotes and when those negative thoughts come to your mind, read them. You can do the same with music, create your own playlist of songs that make you smile and every time you start to feel sad you have to listen to them. You have to remind yourself of the reasons you have to be happy and value all the little things that make you smile in a day. You have to be conscious that you are the only one who has the power to control your mind and your thoughts. And every time you have a bad thought you have to ask yourself how much it really matters to be worried about.

Couple of things to bear in mind about way of thinking is that you can not feel good by thinking bad thoughts. Negative thinking leads to negative feelings. and vice versa. To feel good or better than you wish now is to switch negative thoughts with good ones. Erase the 'no' word and change the word, for example from 'what if it does not work?' become 'what if it works?' Like a camera works: Focus on what is important by capture the good times develops from negatives. And if it does not work out, take another shot! you always can try again.

You can't always prevent it, but you can learn how to respond to it better. To understand that negative thoughts aren't based on truth, to step back and see the good things in addition to the bad things. These thoughts are based on feelings, and those can change. Nobody can have positive thoughts all the time, but negative thoughts can't control you unless you allow them to. You have the power to act on them, or disbelieve them. They may seem like they are truth, but they are just a belief, just a thought, just a feeling.

Love to love yourself, even if others destroyed your self confidence or you are overwhelmed. Remember the few moments of succes in your life, the smile of a friend, something you used to like, even if negative thoughts and moments are overwhelming, focusing on good ones helps. Breathing helps, people and friends help, a laugh and a joke helps too. You can also prevent negative thinking by anticipation and self control and calm. You might try to anticipate how a situation or a person might lead you into negative thinking and prepare for it. In general just tgink that "negative" is bad for you and others even though in medical termsit is a good news😉🤗😊

In my opinion, it is not possible for a person to be positive all the time. Negative things are just as much a part of life as positive things are. It might help to start with identifying negative thoughts, and then voluntarily choosing not to let them control you. It might seem very hard, but if you try, you can get into the habit of not letting negative thoughts affect your physical/mental/emotional health in a very bad manner. On a more practical level, it is necessary to stay physically active. The more productive you are, the lesser chances you will have to go into that vicious spiral of thoughts that accompany negative thinking.

I understand it can be really difficult to prevent negative thinking, but there are many ways to prevent it. First of all, it's a good idea to say good things about yourself. What we think in our minds will eventually become what we believe. That's why it's important to tell good stuff about yourself! For instance, remind to yourself something that you did good! Moreover, once you start thinking negatively, try to distract yourself. It's like a trap! Try to watch a funny video, movie, talk to someone you trust about what's bothering you, go for a walk, take a hot bath and do some self-care.
