Usually that's when you are alone with your thoughts. If you can keep busy or try thinking positive will help.

i get very sad at night by over thinking that everyone hates me and it kills me inside to think that its true
A friendly voice told me their name and asked me how I was doing. I wasn’t pressed for any private, identifying details. The phone counselor simply let me talk. I told her I wasn’t suicidal, but I was depressed and was curious what type of support they offered. I have never needed a hotline because of my excellent support network, so I wasn't sure what to say. However, taking the step to reach out to somebody has always improved my mood, so I told the phone counselor that I felt better and hung up. The SPRC didn’t call back. There was no rescue unit outside my door. I simply had a very nice conversation with a supportive phone counselor who was there to help me if I needed it. If I had been suicidal as I have experienced from time to time in the past, I can imagine that having a sincere person to talk to at four in the morning would be a very valuable asset. My support network isn't nocturnal as I am.
Sometimes you feel 'depressed' at night because you're remembering all the bad things that have happened over the last few days. Instead of doing that, it's better go grab a cup of tea, put on some peaceful music and write about all the good things you've done, and some things you feel you could have done better at.

night is the time we are left alone with our thoughts. sometimes insomnia makes us thinks about they day and somehow we end feeling depressed about the things we could have made better
Darkness tends to make someone depressed especially when stressed. It is a hormonal imbalance and so on.
Are you feeling anxious? What are you thinking about right now? What's going on in you life right now?

Often times people feel worse at night because they are alone and negative thoughts tend to come to mind. During the day there are distractions; TV, radio, homework, friends, family, etc., but at night those things are away or are quiet and depressive thoughts come to mind.

It's common, because night is quiet and lonelh sometimes, it gives your demons the chance to be loud. Keep yourself distracted and don't let them get to you
Probably because people tend to overthink at night. But most of the time it's not because of nighttime but because of the sadness you have in you.

Night is always darker , and dark makes us feel depressed. Also night the ''monsters'' come and try to attack us but we should never leave them to attack us
Well I've read that the part of the human brain that controls emotions is usually more active at night because you're sleep deprived. This is what I've heard anyway. But it could always be that your home is quiet and dark at night, and this could be making you feel lonely, and therefore more depressed.
Because you are not distracted by anything else and you are on your own. Your thoughts can flow around in your head, because there is nothing else to think of.
When I'm alone in bed at night, I have nothing to think about and sometimes my mind wanders off and things about bad things. I think it might be the dark mood the night gives. Either way, it just seems that when I'm alone and have nothing to think about, my mind seems to drift off and think about negative things.

At night people tend to think more about your things and problems because you don't have so much activities. Maybe just read a book or something and try to sleep
Depends on diet, lifestyle, situation. If it is a general feeling at night it's most likely being associated with a past experience. Or because you are not happy with your daily accomplishments.
Cause at night you are alone with yourself and you have time to think about your problems and flawless.

I don't know. I used to feel that way too. I still do sometimes. I think it might have something to do with being alone. At night usually you would be up alone in your room or wherever and that could have a lot to do with it. Sleeping it off usually helps.
Generally at night time, youre alone and given a time period to think about anything. The sadness can creep up whenever.
