Yes, it's called Seasonal Affective Disorder. Symptoms appear around December and resolve in the spring. Patients usually experience lack of energy, depression, increased appetite, weight gain, increased sleep and social withdrawal. Just message me if you have any questions:)
Absolutely. A lot of people experience depression around times of the year where we usually involve family, excitement, and comradery. Seeing these things all around you can make different people feel different ways for very different reasons. It's important to be gentle with people who seem to be struggling around these times.
