I think peer pressure and stress causes people to drink. You can help someone by showing that you care and that you want to help them stop.

Lots of things can cause people to want to drink. Stress, peer pressure, experimentation. Show the person that you are there for them, that there are better ways to cope with your emotions. Let them know there is help for them, and be compassionate.

The cause is as individual as the person, it maybe because of some emotional trama they are trying not to feel, it maybe trying to relax from stress at work. There are a million reasons why someone says they drink. To help you can talk to them about your concerns with love and understanding, you can talk to them about AA for instance, and you can go to Ala-non (support for spouses for alcoholics) to find out more on how to help. The person is going to have to come to a conclusion that the pain of the problem is worse that the pain of the solution. Once they have done this then recovery and healing begins.

Drinking alcohol can be a problem, especially if a lot is consumed often. People can use it to block out problems, emotions and feelings. It may feel helpful while it is being consumed, but it is very serious and negative in the long run. It worsens depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self harm and everything in between. It can destroy families and get you in trouble with the law. Trust me i know first hand. Many treatment options are available including, but not limited to, ACT, AA anon, and therapy.

There's some Euphoria on it. Based on my Experience that is. They need a big realization and strong will to stop. As for me, it was a matter of life and death. You can help by making them realize what there is they need to realize in order for them to stop.

Many things influence alcoholism: societal conditioning, personal struggles, or even lifestyle choices. You really have to know the person and know how to approach from the right angle. I find that being alive and health is a pretty important values of most people, so try making people reflect on how drinking affects their health & wellness.

There are many different individual reasons as to why a person would want a drink. Based on my experience, I began to take alcohol because my peers at that time were into experimenting. Drinking alcohol became a group activity. We enjoyed the effects. However, there were times when things got pretty bad. Some of the reasons why people take alcohol include to relax or to numb the pain. The problem is alcohol intake is addictive. And an addiction of any kind becomes a problem if it starts to affect the quality of life of a person. Rehab is one of the ways to address the problem.

Normally people drink when they are trying to suppress feelings they are having or suppress an event that happened. Maybe reach out to them in a nice way to check on them and see if everything is okay. Be kind when doing this and make sure they understand that you are doing it in their best interest. When asking this, make sure you aren't doing it in an attacking mode, display what you have been noticing and how you are worried about them as their friend. Show how you care and how you are willing to help them through whatever tough time they are going through.
