Understanding Trauma
Short video defining trauma and how to recognize symptoms of trauma
Majority of people (about 70%) will experience at least one traumatic event in their life. What defines and event as traumatic varies from person to person. A traumatic event is any event that leaves a person feeling unsafe in some way. Two people may experience the same event and that event could be traumatic to one person, but not the other. What determines whether an event is traumatic or not depends a lot on an individual's own experience and the support they have to move through the traumatic event and the aftermath.
