Types of Anxiety: Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) Overview
There are many different types of anxiety. One of these is Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
As we learned in previous steps, anxiety is a feeling of unease, that can range from mild to severe, experienced in many different ways.
It is also normal to feel anxious sometimes, such as when you face a stressful situation, like a test at school, or an interview for a new job.
However, for people living with anxiety, the worry they feel is often very difficult to control, and anxiety can begin to affect their daily life.
GAD is one specific type of anxiety disorder.
It is a condition that can affect people for long periods of time, and people living with GAD tend to feel anxious about a range of scenarios, not one specific worry. They feel anxious most days, to the point that sometimes it may become difficult to remember a relaxing time.
Sometimes, it may feel as though as soon as one anxious thought is resolved, another one takes its place.
Ask yourself: What are 3 situations where you have felt anxious recently? How did your anxiety affect the situation? How did the situation resolve?
