The Stress of the Diagnosis
A diagnosis like MDS can bring about lots of unwanted stress and anxiety. You may find it hard to think about how the diagnosis may impact you and what your future might involve. While the next steps of this path will help you tackle uncertainty and find hope, here is a quick activity to help explore and manage your stress levels:
- Which thoughts contribute to your stress levels? Write these down (e.g. I won't be able to manage my care)
- Challenge the stress-inducing thoughts by coming up with alternative thoughts in response to the initial thoughts. (e.g. I will be able to figure it out with the right support).
