- The main pillars of Stoicism include virtue, tolerance, and self-control
- Although we may not be able to control the events that happen around us, we have control over how we react to situations
- Stoics believe in the cardinal virtues of wisdom (being able to navigate complex situations in a logical manner), temperance (exercise of self-restraint), justice (treating others with fairness even when they have done wrong), and courage (having daily challenges with integrity)
- Stoics encourage self-improvement and compassion for others
- Stoicism has also inspired psychology, like rational emotive behavioral therapy

"We suffer not from the events in our lives, but from our judgement about them!" - Epictetus
"We can harness our will power to fill our lives with meaning even in the bleakest of situations."
