Step 7: Responding Constructively After a Slip
Your efforts to avoid high-risk triggers and to resist the initial urge have borne fruit: you are less likely to experience slips than in previous change attempts. Congratulations!
But, in spite of your valiant effort, you are human, you are not perfect (yet!), and you will probably slip.
What now? You respond constructively to the slip and prevent a single slip from leading to relapse. In this step, we show you how to do so, beginning with a brief explanation of the relapse chain of events.
