Step 6: Discussing Your Life Vision
When we share our thoughts, beliefs, and feelings with others about our sense of meaning and purpose - we can notice how we feel about what we shared or declared. This sharing or “declaration” gives us a chance to assess, clarify, and affirm what we really believe and care about. When we share our thoughts and feelings about things important to us – it blesses both us and those who receive the sharing. It blesses us by helping us clarify and understand what we need to work on in our lives. Additionally, it is a compliment to others when we are vulnerable with them. It creates more closeness in relationships. It nurtures trust. It gives others permission to likewise share with us, and it reminds us that we are not alone in this world. Sharing and declaration helps us refine, clarify, and solidify our sense of purpose, mission, and vision.
Discuss your responses to the Life Mission Questionnaire with your therapist, spiritual leader, or close family member or friend. If you do feel a sense of life purpose, vision, and mission, it can be helpful to yourself and others to share your feelings about your purpose in life. If you lack meaning and purpose or have not yet made a deep commitment to your vision, you can benefit from exploring these feelings with someone you trust.
How does discussing your responses to the questionnaire make you feel? We hope that this exploration will help you gain insight into how you can further enhance your vision.
