Now that you have almost completed this growth path, ponder your beliefs about the purpose of your life, what you want most out of life, what your priorities are, what you know about your deepest desires in life, and what you want most to share with others in your life.

Further potential steps in finding meaning and purpose in life and then using this understanding to create and honor reasons for recovery from your mental health conditions and other illnesses and difficulties include the following:

  1. Ponder what it is that you want in your life: (e.g., I want to have, see, experience, learn, enjoy, relationships, teach, share, give, be, and become . . . ).
  2. Connect with and understand your deepest desires: listen to your heart.
  3. Your true desires will help you clarify your passion, purpose, reasons, and your vision for recovery from your mental health condition and other difficulties.
  4. Create a vision of how you would like to be and how you would like your life to be.
  5. Believe in yourself and trust yourself. Know in your heart that you possess everything you will need to become and be as you as you really are and as you deeply desire for yourself. Have faith in you, in God and in others.
  6. Make commitments and promises to self, loved ones, and your higher power about what you will do to create, attain, and enjoy your dreams. Make promises and keeping them a way of life.
  7. Strive to be your best. Ask for help, including asking your spiritual source for help. Do your very best with your promise through baby steps, action, and making all necessary sacrifices. Be sure to ask for help along the way.
  8. Learn from your mistakes and make corrections rather than beating up on yourself for mistakes and imperfections.
  9. Be patient, persistent and consistent over time and do not try to force it, hurry it or try to make it happen too fast. This is a process that will grow and improve with practice and experiences over time.
  10. Accept and be kind to yourself along the way. Accept yourself as you are and for who you are as you take steps towards becoming.
  11. Endure suffering and celebrate progress as you surrender to healing, transcend illness, find yourself again, and become who you desire to become.
  12. Enjoy peace, contentment, love, joy, and recovery even amid difficulty.
