Sleep Problems Chats

Sleep problems could include insomnia (having trouble falling asleep), hypersomnia (oversleeping), nightmares etc.

Helpful Points
  • A member with sleep difficulty may be feeling frustrated, angry, irritated, and (most likely) TIRED!
  • It is important to display patience with the member.
  • Remember we are not doctors or professionals, so do not make an attempt to diagnose the member with a sleep disorder.
  • Be supportive of them, let them know that there are people that are there for them.

Helpful Questions
  • How long has this [insert sleep difficulty/behavior] been going on for?
  • What kinds of things do you like to do to relax at the end of a long day?
  • Would you be interested in checking out a resource? It might be helpful in your struggle with [insert sleep difficulty/behavior].

Ending the Chat and Following Up
