Signs of Caregiver Burnout

According to the World Health Organization, burnout is a "syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic stress that has not been successfully managed". When you have been stressed for a prolonged time in your caregiving role, you may be at risk of burnout.
Some common signs of burnout include exhaustion, feeling negative about one's role, and experiencing a decrease in productivity. In addition, caregiver burnout may present with these signs:
- Your life revolves around caregiving, but it gives you little satisfaction.
- You have trouble relaxing, even when help is available.
- You’re increasingly impatient and irritable with the person you’re caring for.
