Self Care for Anxiety

Creator: @Izzy274

Self-care is such an important part of our well-being and can be really helpful in managing our anxiety. Sometimes it may feel like we don't have time to take care of ourselves, or like we have to put other people first, however, your mental health is extremely important!

Here are some ideas for quick, simple self-care that you should hopefully be able to try out and add to your day without any extra stress.

Breathe

Taking a few minutes to focus on your breathing and take a few deep breaths can be really helpful for managing anxiety, and settling overwhelming anxious thoughts.

Make a cup of tea

Making a cup of tea can be a very relaxing thing to do, as well as giving you time in a busy morning to think through your goals and schedule for the day ahead, or practice some gratitude by thinking of the positives in your life before your day begins.

Try some Yoga

Doing yoga can have so many benefits, not only physically with your circulation, but also helping you to relax and unwind. Each yoga position only takes a few minutes, so taking a small amount of time out of your day to slow things down and relax can be really beneficial for anxiety.

Take a Bath

Baths can be a really relaxing experience, and you can add lots of things, such as herbs, a candle or another cup of tea to add to the soothing aspect of a bath and help you unwind your anxiety even more.

Take a walk

Taking a walk and spending some time outside in nature can be really relaxing and soothing. It is also a good opportunity to ground yourself and stay in the moment, by focusing on the sights, sounds and smells around you.

Read a Book

It can definitely be difficult to find the time to read a book, but even taking 10 or 20 minutes out of your day can be really helpful and relaxing.

Meditate

Taking time to clear your mind and stay in the moment can be so helpful for anxiety, even if it's only for a few minutes each day. It can help things to feel less overwhelming and calmer.

Write in a gratitude journal

Reflecting on and expressing the things you are grateful for can be so beneficial in allowing you to feel more positively about situations and feel less anxious overall.
