REACH 8.7 ❍ Summary and Quiz 8
You’ve learned that you will probably doubt whether the forgiveness you’ve experienced is “real.” If you see the person who offended you, or obsess about the past event, you will almost certainly feel angry.
It’s easy to interpret this anger as proof that your forgiveness is not true forgiveness. But you SHOULD feel angry if you see someone who has hurt you. The anger is how your body warns you: “Be careful. You got hurt before, and you could get hurt again”.
If you feel you’ve mostly forgiven the person who hurt you, and you feel angry when you see that person, what will you think of yourself? Type a sentence or two that you can use to convince yourself that you have truly forgiven and that you feel angry for another reason.
