Identification of Your Parade of Faces
Some first responder calls are extra difficult. A "Parade of Faces" is a metaphor for all the calls that linger in your memory and are challenging to recall. These may include first calls, child related calls, fatalities, suicides, personally triggering calls etc. Awareness of these calls is important for processing.
In the box below, use the following questions to help you identify your Parade of Faces:
- When you think of the calls that linger for you, what calls are the most difficult?
- Imagine the calls like a parade that you watch from the first to the most recent call. These may include first calls, child related calls, fatalities, suicides, personally triggering calls, severe bodily injuries or body odors. When you think about that parade of faces of the calls that were most difficult for you, what is the negative belief about yourself that comes up? Some common thoughts include feeling powerless, wanting to have done something, and being unable to move on.
