Eating Well

Creator: @Izzy274

Eating well-balanced meals can be a big help for anxiety.

Keeping hydrated can also be very beneficial, and it is recommended to drink 6-8 glasses of water per day.

Sugar rush can also mimic a panic attack, due to the highs and lows of blood sugar. Therefore having a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, lean meats and healthy fats is recommended. ( Harvard Health )

Here are some superfoods for anxiety recommended by EatingWell :

  • Almonds - these have lots of magnesium which decreases likelihood of anxiety and depression. Also cashews, peanuts, granola, spinach and beans are good for the same reason.
  • Eggs - these have protein and choline, which is associated with memory and mood. They also have other anti-inflammatory agents which can be good for brain communication.
  • Salmon - this has omega-3 fatty acids which lower the risk of anxiety as well as being anti-inflammatory and enhance communication in the brain.
  • Asparagus - this has known antianxiety affects, however the reason why is not entirely clear. It is likely that it also has anti-inflammatory antioxidants.
  •  Blueberries - these contain lots of antioxidants, which are associated with lower anxiety and depression.
  • Lean proteins - these contain vitamins used to make seratonin and dopamine, which help to decrease anxiety and other conditions.

Ask yourself: How does your usual diet influence how you feel? What could you do to incorporate healthy, positive foods into your diet?
