5 Finger Breathing

5 finger breathing can be used as a tool for calming yourself, as well as to regularly practice mindfulness and stay in the moment. Here's how you do it:

  • Step One: Stretch one hand out so that you have space between your fingers. 
  • Step Two: Hold up the pointer finger from your other hand. 
  • Step Three: Start at the bottom of your thumb and use your pointer finger to trace up your thumb as you slowly breathe in through your mouth. 
  • Step Four: When you reach the top of your thumb, slowly begin to breathe out of your nose, and trace down the other side of your thumb. 
  • Step Five: Repeat this process until you have traced all the fingers on your hand :)
