The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Wytheville, VA, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system that balances social, environmental, and economic needs. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, our Fellowship offers comprehensive, tuition-free training in organic food systems, ensuring accessibility for all participants. Throughout a six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows engage in hands-on learning while cultivating vital skills in areas such as diversified crop production, community gardening, and food and ecological literacy. Following this period, they embark on a Community Action Year, where they apply their knowledge and collaborate with local non-profits to enhance access to healthy foods, support farmers markets, and strengthen community food initiatives. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
