Located in Radford, VA, the Allegheny Mountain Institute's Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of food advocates and educators who champion a just food system. This transformative program empowers Fellows through practical, hands-on training in organic food systems education without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Our Fellows engage in vital community initiatives, from growing and distributing diverse crops on sustainable farms to implementing innovative health care education sessions and maintaining school gardens. They also play a key role in enhancing food literacy, supporting farmers markets, and creating distribution channels that facilitate access to healthy foods. Over the course of six months at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, participants apply their learning in collaboration with various regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
