Marion, VA US
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Marion, VA, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program offers a unique opportunity for selected Fellows to engage in hands-on, organic food system education. Through this Fellowship, participants collaborate with local partners to cultivate diverse crops on market-style farms, enhance food and ecological literacy in schools, maintain community gardens, support farmers' markets, and develop innovative ways to improve access to healthy foods for everyone in the community. Throughout the six-month residential experience at the AMI Allegheny Farm Campus, and into a subsequent Community Action Year, Fellows gain invaluable training that allows them to create real change in partnership with regional non-profit organizations. We aim to make this transformative experience accessible by not charging tuition, welcoming all passionate aspiring leaders to apply by March each year for the program running from May to October.
