Located in Hayes, VA, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become advocates for a just food system. We offer a tuition-free program that emphasizes organic food system education, enabling Fellows to engage in meaningful community work such as growing and distributing diverse crops on a market-style farm, implementing innovative health care education, maintaining school and community gardens, and integrating food and ecological literacy into educational settings. During their six-month immersive experience at our Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows receive hands-on training and support, followed by a Community Action Year where they apply their skills in partnership with local non-profits. Our initiative is designed to make healthy food more accessible, support farmers' markets, and mentor the next generation of food system leaders. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
