The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Galax, VA, is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system through hands-on education and community engagement. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this transformative program empowers selected Fellows to become advocates for socially, environmentally, and economically fair food practices. Offering a tuition-free educational experience, the Fellowship equips participants with essential skills in organic food education, enabling them to cultivate diversified crops, run farm-based community programs, and support local farmers' markets. Throughout a six-month immersive residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, Fellows work collaboratively with regional non-profits to enhance food access, implement innovative health initiatives, and instill food literacy in schools.
