The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Front Royal, VA, is dedicated to cultivating compassionate leaders and advocates for a food system rooted in social, environmental, and economic justice. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for individuals to engage in comprehensive organic food system education without the barrier of tuition, thereby ensuring broader accessibility. Throughout a transformative six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, selected Fellows will gain hands-on experience in sustainable agricultural practices, including growing diversified crops, maintaining community gardens, and supporting local farmers markets. They will also develop educational initiatives that promote food and ecological literacy in schools and community settings. Following their immersive training, Fellows will embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to put their skills into practice, mentor future cohorts, and champion increased access to healthy, locally-sourced food.
