The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Forest, VA, is dedicated to cultivating passionate leaders committed to transforming the food system into one that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. This program, hosted by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides comprehensive training without any tuition fees, ensuring that access to education is open to all. Selected Fellows will embark on a six-month, hands-on learning journey at the Allegheny Farm Campus, where they will gain valuable insights into organic food practices and community engagement. Participants will not only learn to grow and distribute diverse, healthy crops but also engage in vital initiatives such as educational workshops in healthcare, maintaining community gardens, enhancing food literacy in schools, supporting local farmers markets, and developing channels for improved access to nutritious food. Following their training, Fellows will embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills alongside local nonprofit partners to make a lasting impact. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
