The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Farmville, VA, provided by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, is dedicated to training and empowering passionate individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our fellowship offers an immersive, hands-on experience at the Allegheny Farm Campus where selected Fellows engage in organic food system education, work collaboratively to grow and distribute diverse crops, and implement innovative health care educational sessions. We emphasize accessibility by providing this fellowship at no tuition cost. Fellows participate in maintaining community gardens, supporting local farmers' markets, and developing distribution channels for healthy food access in their communities. Through our program, participants spend six months in direct experiential learning, followed by a Community Action Year, where they apply their skills in partnership with local non-profits. The application process is open until March each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
